WLUCV, virtual channel 36 (UHF digital channel 31), is an independent television station licensed to Luciville, Idaho, United States and serving the Vanillage region (Luciville-Cansburg-Vanilla Heights). The station is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

As an ABC stationEdit

Even as ABC dominated the ratings by the late 1970s and early 1980s, WLUCV remained stubbornly in third place. W???? became an NBC O&O station in 1986 when it traded networks with WARLOK, but WLUCV saw little windfall from the switch. Even by early 1990, with ABC's powerful primetime lineup, WLUCV was dead last in the Vanillage television ratings.

UPN affiliationEdit

By the mid-1990s, ABC's patience with WLUCV was exhausted, and the network became extremely frustrated with its poor performance one of the fastest growing markets in the country. ABC began to look to move its programming to another station at the end of its affiliation agreement with channel 36. By August 2000, Edward Broadcasting announced that they were selling WLUCV to Sinclair Broadcast Group for $45.5 billion.

News operationEdit

The station has not aired any local news programming since 1994, after which it became an independent station for most of its history (except for a UPN affiliation from 1995 to 2006).
