WING-TV, virtual channel 2, is an NBC-affiliated television station licensed to Bronsonville, Michigan, United States. The station is owned by the Dallas-based Belo Corporation.

History[]

Early history[]

On May 13, 1952, after the FCC-mandated "freeze" was lifted, the Wing Newspaper Company of Bronsonville, owners of the now-defunct Bronsonville Coop newspaper, filed a construction permit to the Federal Communications Commission to sign on channel 2.

Channel 2 originally aired programming from CBS, as WING radio had been an affiliate of the CBS Radio Network since 1932, but also carried programming from NBC, ABC, and the DuMont Television Network. When WBNV-TV signed on as an NBC affiliate in 1956, it shared ABC with WING until 1958, when channel 2 promoted its ABC affiliation to primary status. This was unusual for a two-station market. ABC was then the weakest of the Big Three television networks, and would not be on par with NBC or CBS until the early 1970s.
