WFCK, virtual channel 31 (UHF digital channel 30), is an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Kilovlle, North Carolina, United States. The station is owned by The E.W. Scripps Company.

HistoryEdit

In the mid-1970s, ABC—then enjoying its first run as America's top-rated television network—began looking for stronger affiliates across the country, and largely did so at the expense of third-place NBC. ABC surprised the industry in October 1977 by announcing it had signed an affiliation deal with W???, ending that network's 30 year relationship with W???. The three-way switch occurred on March 1, 1978. Field Communications sold about half of WFCK's cartoons and syndicated programming inventory to W???-TV, which replaced WFCK as Kiloville's largest independent station and one of the most prominent in the upper Midwest. Subsequently, WFCK became one of Field Communications' first TV stations to be affiliated with the ABC television network.
