KCLA-TV is an NBC owned-and-operated television station that serves the Gulfhaven, Florida area. It broadcasts on channel 40 and it is owned by the NBC Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal.

History Edit

The station first signed on the air on March 27th, 1975 as KHJA-TV. Originally, the station was an ABC affiliate and it is owned by Kaiser Broadcasting. It was a sister station of RKO Network affiliate WBND-TV 29 until 2013, but WBND-TV served the Emerald City, Chicago area.

On April 2nd, 1980, KHJA-TV was sold to Koopa Troop Communications and the name was changed to the current KCLA-TV.

In 1992, KCLA-TV ended his ABC affiliation after 17 years. Koopa Troop Communications announced that KCLA-TV will switch to NBC affiliation.

In 2005, KCLA-TV started broadcasting as an NBC owned-and-operated television station.

On May 12, 2009, a month before the day of analog shutdown for full-power stations on the United States, KCLA-TV turned off it's analog signal forever.

At this time, KCLA-TV will now go off the air for transmittter maintenance. KCLA-TV will be back at 5:40 AM. Good night!

And so, KCLA-TV will now go off the air until later this morning. KCLA-TV is a subscriber in good standing to the television code of the National Association of Broadcasters, owned and operated by Koopa Troop Communications, and this station broadcasts on channel 40. KCLA-TV transmits with a total power output of 1,650,000 watts, being up the most powerful station in Gulfhaven. We will return to the air tomorrow at 5:40 AM. KCLA-TV transmits with a total power output of 1,650,000 watts, on the assigned frequency of 390 to 394 megahertz. We will return to the air tomorrow at 6:10 AM.
