In 2005, it was reported that Disney was in talks to acquire a majority stake in the Children's Television Workshop, a non-profit company known for proudcing such works as Sesame Street. The acquisition took place on March 21, 2006, and cost Disney $3.6 million. However, Sesame Street and Dragon Tales, which CTW produced, were still airing on PBS, at the time of the acquisition.
